Now, I don’t know about y’all but if someone would have asked me what kind of dog I’d like to own, my answer certainly would have not included the words Siberian or Husky 😀
Don’t get me wrong – they look beautiful but when I thought about huskies, I only imagined RUNNING DOGS.
But life happened, and I did end up with a Siberian Husky.
So let me tell about my life with my boy Myki.
Feel free to follow us on Instagram for videos and pictures.
About his character:
Most importantly: he.is.stubborn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And that’s actually it… lol not quite but that’s really something you need to understand. My boy loves me and his home, but when it comes to what he wants, there is a HUGE EGO you’ll have to deal with.
Myki is 6 years by now and really a good boy – we left the phase of destroying things, staying at home alone is not a problem. Thankfully he doesn’t bark and also doesn’t jowl. We do know a lots of tricks. Above all Myki is super friendly with anyone. Although he’s a male dog he is also very compatible with any other dog – HOWEVER, having him off-leash is a real problem. As soon as he sees other animals, or smells something very interesting, he’s OFFLINE! And i mean it, yelling, calling, whistling, chasing, ignoring… NOTHING helps! And the worst thing is – he knows better! Sometimes he looks at me right before he takes of and you can basically read his mind saying: “well mommy I’m off-leash, so we both know – you ain’t gonna do nothing about me running away!” 😀
Luckily he always came back before something bad happened but it’s killing me…! (happy to receive some inside tips :-/ )
Another thing everybody needs to know is: they are no protecting dogs … 😀 I truly believe, if someone would break-in in our house, my dog would greet him by laying down in front of that person and by asking him to rub his belly *lmao*
Further, I’d like to explain how much I hate it by now, when people say: “oh my god you have a husky?! You must be running outside with him for hours and hours to get him tired?!?!?!”
Let me tell you something, I know Huskies were bread to be sled dogs, who run for hours and miles BUT that doesn’t mean that every husky on this earth is a sled dog…! And mine is the prime example!! -> I started jogging (for my own health) and thought “oh that will be cool, I can take Myki with me and we both gonna get our exercise done…:) ” – NO!
My dog is LAZY! He does not like running! He wants to sniff around and to go where ever HE wants! Running is fun for like 15mins, but then he realizes “Oh I can’t pee everywhere I want! Oh, I could’t sniff that spot! Oh, I was hoping we’re going that way!” 😀 so ya, make sure you train your dog from the beginning otherwise even a husky gets lazy *smh*
But oh well, I love my baby boy!!! 🙂
Last thing to consider before bringing a Siberian Husky into your house :
Spring time is crazy-shedding-time! Even if you take care of their fur the right way: their coat will be EVERYWHERE! On the floor, on the blankets, the pillows, your clothes! If you don’t like cleaning (DAILY!) you should reconsider your choice of dog bread 😉
